Feng Shui @ 168 Prosperity
This is a picture of the famous Tōdai-ji temple in Japan, Nara. This temple is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site. I visited the temple last week when I was on holidays in Japan. The Feng Shui spirit in me was triggered and I took the reading of the temple. The image below shows the compass reading of the temple.
This compass reading shows that this temple is “座北朝南”; meaning the temple is facing south.
It is a classic Feng Shui setup for ancient buildings. Many ancient buildings are built facing south. Why is it so? It is to avoid the North Wind.
In the past, there was no such thing as heater. So, it can get really cold in winter; especially with the north wind. Thus, many buildings were built facing South so that the north wind will not blow directly into their buildings.
This picture showed the surrounding landscape of the temple. It is surrounded by high hills on the left and right hand side. At the back, there is a higher hill acting as a “back support” for the temple. The natural landscape helped the temple create a virtuous surrounding to ensure that natural air will be circulated nicely within the temple premises.
It is clear from the above example that Feng Shui is a form of architectural study as well. The historical buildings were built to create a comfortable living environment for the occupants within the building.
Lastly; note that Feng Shui has got 2 components: the practical architectural aspect and the activation of auspicious energy yearly.
To activate good luck with Feng Shui, we need to capture the auspicious energy around the house. Auspicious energy change direction yearly. The occupants of the house will be able to enjoy the auspicious energy when it is activated. In some years, it may be tough to activate as the auspicious energy falls into some awkward corner of the house.
Thus, I conclude by emphasising that not all south-facing houses have good Feng Shui. This is an urban legend. We need to be able to activate the yearly auspicious energy to enable good things to happen.
